Discussion Series with Dr. Dan Hartman, Director of Integrated Development at the Gates Foundation
We are excited to welcome Dr. Dan Hartman, Director of Integrated Development at the Gates Foundation, to The Ohio State University for a series of speaking and discussion events hosted by the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) in collaboration with the Infectious Disease Institute (IDI).
During his visit on February 24, 2025, Dr. Hartman will be engaging with the Ohio State community through a series of events that are open to all:
- 8 - 8:50 a.m.: Infectious Disease Research and the Gates Foundation: From Basic to Translational – A Discussion, moderated by Dr. Michael Oglesbee.
- 9 - 9:45 a.m.: Funding Opportunities at the Gates Foundation.
- 10 – 11 a.m.: Seminar by Dr. Dan Hartman, MD, Director of Integrated Development at the Gates Foundation.
- 11:15 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.: Drug Development at the Gates Foundation – A Discussion, moderated by Dean Kroetz, with lunch provided. Registration required and priority will be given to faculty members.

Dr. Hartman brings a wealth of experience in product development and pharmaceutical management, having joined the Gates Foundation in 2012. He leads a team that provides technical expertise in product development to various foundation teams and their partners, with a focus on advancing global health initiatives. Dr. Hartman's extensive background includes serving as interim director of the Malaria team at the Gates Foundation from 2016 to 2018, as well as holding senior positions at Great Lakes Drug Development, deCODE genetics, Pfizer Global Research and Development and Esperion Therapeutics. He has also served on the advisory board to the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) and the Cures Acceleration Network (CAN), served as president of the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics and is a current member of the CTSI External Advisory Board.
